Enhancing the Modbus Communication Protocol to Minimize Acquisition Times Based on an STM32-Embedded Device

The primary function of a distributed bus is to connect sensors, actuators, and control units that are used for an acquisition process. Application domains, such as industrial monitoring systems, manufacturing processes, or building automation, present different requirements not exactly invariable coherent. Updating data from Modbus-type devices involves updating through technique called polling, which repeatedly scanning the registers each device. This paper highlights performance Modbus communication, considering scenarios in integrated accessed at consecutive addresses. protocol allows reading one more holding-type registers. If addresses, multiple requests required, with implications real-time characteristics system. We studied update times within SMARTConvert application when variable numbers accessed, we designed extension protocol. major reason current research no assumptions required about semantics, performance/resource ratio generic services excellent.
